Former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno's Son Accused of Corruption

Former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno's son, Fredrick Joseph Otieno has been accused of fleecing his friend Ksh11 million.

Ms Ruth Aloo, who is a widow, divulged that she knew Fredrick while they were students in college almost 20 years ago.

She then told the court that in 2015, Fredrick presented himself as a real estate agent and since she wanted to invest, she gave him the power of attorney to take possession and sell her house in Avenue Park estate in Nairobi.

According to Ms Aloo, the house was purchased and the sum of Ksh11 million was deposited in the account of Fredrick Joseph who then asked Ms Aloo if he could invest the money in another real estate project in Mozambique.

The complainant further directed that she refused his proposal to invest the money as she had planned to relocate and settle down using the said amount.

However, following their disagreement on the new project, the complainant stated that she could not reach Fredrick anymore as he allegedly changed his number.

Presenting the case through her lawyer, Ms Aloo asserted that she is currently stranded in the USA since Fredrick never sent her any interests or proceeds of her investments.

She now seeks for the court to coerce him to give back the proceeds from the sale of her house.

Ms Aloo also wants the defendant, the legislator's son, to cater for the costs of the suit.

On Wednesday, the High Court affirmed that they would set a date for the hearing of the suit later in July.
