Father Takes Son to Court Over Pocket Money

A father, Peter Irungu, has taken his son Paul Mwangi to court alleging that Mwangi threatened to beat him up if he was not given the pocket money he had demanded.

Irungu, 67, claimed that Mwangi came home drunk one night to their house in Mbotela.

Mwangi is said to have repeatedly accused his father of denying him pocket money.

According to Irungu, Mwangi started hurling insults at around 7 pm and declared that he would beat him (Irungu) up if not handed the pocket money he wanted.

Irungu says as Mwangi caused a scene, he demanded to know why he had chosen to disturb their neighbours.

Angered, he decided to call the police who proceeded to arrest Irungu.

Mwangi pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against him.

A forlorn Mwangi looked calm throughout the session as he stood in the dock.

He was put in remand awaiting a probation report.

The incident in question took place on June 18, 2018.
