The assailants are said to have brandished their guns as they ordered passengers to co-operate with them.

Once they had amassed valuables including phones and cash, they staged a dramatic escape.

According to Buru buru DCI Jeremiah Ikiao, the gangsters shot in the air as they fled the scene.

The driver who sustained a gunshot wound was rushed to a nearby facility.

“An Uber driver was shot on the thigh by the thugs who shot in the air as they escaped. He was taken to a nearby hospital and he is out of danger,” Ikiao told Nairobi News.
