Betty Kyallo Takes Friday Briefing to Mombasa as Speculation Swirls on KTN Exit

Popular KTN news anchor Betty Kyallo on Thursday revealed details of her planned trip to Mombasa sparking a flurry of reactions from a section of Kenyans.

The anchor cum entrepreneur took to social media to disclose that the next edition of her primetime show Friday Briefing would air live from Mombasa County.

"Mombasa mpo? Kesho kwa mpigo tena sana tumeingia. County 001 welcomes @BettyMKyallo (Mombasa are you there? Tomorrow we are coming with a bang. County 001 welcomes Betty Kyallo," tweeted the show's producer Sarah Mwangi.

Coming hours after media reports emerged indicating that Kyallo had resigned from KTN and was headed to K24, the revelation left some netizens confused.

Fans questioned whether Friday Briefing was indeed still on, prompting Betty to issue a clarification.

"Show tunayo (We have the show)," Betty tweeted in response to a fan who demanded to know whether she had left KTN.

Several people, however, simply expressed their anticipation for the news show which also features interviews with prominent personalities among other segments.

Reports on the presenter's seemingly imminent move indicated that she was currently serving out a notice to her current employer.

The news came as a surprise to many given that K24 has been struggling to gain viewership in recent times.

This was amplified when it fell behind Inooro TV, a vernacular station, in viewership numbers according to the latest data.

With other media houses putting renewed focus on repackaging their news shows, K24 is seeking to leverage Kyallo's star power to get Kenyans watching again.
