President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday paid former Head of State Daniel Moi a courtesy visit at his Kabarak home in Nakuru.

Later President Kenyatta is reported to have held a meeting with him and his son, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

The meeting comes after allegations from some Rift Valley leaders among them Bomet Senator Christopher Lang'at and his Kericho counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot that Raila Odinga is plotting to use Baringo Senator, Gideon, to split Kalenjin vote to deny Deputy President William Ruto the presidency in 2022.

The Head of State is also set to attend the burial of the wife of former Kenya Defence Forces deputy chief Lt-Gen Joseph Kasaon, Sarah, in Rongai.

In May the Deputy President visited former President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home but failed to meet him.

People privy to the visit stated the retired president could not meet Ruto as he was undergoing a routine physiotherapy session with his doctors for the entire duration of the visit.

A statement from the former president’s office stated that Ruto could not meet the former President who instead offered to meet them on a later date.

“Deputy President William Ruto today visited the former president. Mr Ruto and his team were welcomed and had lunch at Mzee’s Kabarak home,"  the statement read.

"Unfortunately, this coincided with the time Mzee Moi was undergoing routine physical exercise with his doctors. Mzee Moi agreed to meet him at a convenient time another day in the very near future,” it further added.
