Nairobi businessman Erastus Ngura Odhiambo was on Wednesday sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing his girlfriend Linda Wanjiku Irungu.
Justice Stellah Mutuku handed Odhiambo alias Baba Billy the sentence after he was found guilty of murdering Ms Irungu four years ago in Buru Buru Phase 5 in Nairobi.
While handing the sentence, Justice Mutuku stated that the man shot dead the 27-year-old lawyer following an altercation on December 11, 2014.
The judge conveyed that Odhiambo visited Irungu's house requesting to join him for a night out. She declined and when he found her trying to drive out of her compound, he dragged her out of the car.
A short struggle ensued and that is when he shot her. Two estate guards watched it occurred.

Last week, Justice Mutuku found the businessman guilty of murder stating that the businessman had the forethought to kill Ms Irungu as he had gone to her house with his gun cocked.
In his defence, Odhiambo told the court that it was the lady who pulled the trigger as she was heavily intoxicated.
The judge, however, maintained that evidence placed the accused at the scene and the bullet recovered from her body was from his gun.
“Although the accused claims the deceased reached out for his gun and fired in the air, it is impossible for the bullet to have changed directions to hit her at the back. It is the accused who fired the fatal shot which killed Ms Irungu with whom they had been quarrelling.
"Odhiambo found the deceased driving out in a bid to run away from him. She was dressed in pyjamas. He blocked her and drew his gun from his trousers. He opened the door of her vehicle, dragged her out, pushed her towards her house. She resisted as she struggled to free herself. It is then that he shot her in the right upper back inflicting a fatal injury,” Justice Mutuku stated.
