David Nzomo, the man captured on tape beating and kicking wife in Kyaaka village, Kitonyini sub-location, Makueni County has been jailed for 12 years.
The Makueni court ruled that Nzomo's criminal record revealed he had a history of violence.
Nzomo faced charges of causing grievous body harm to his wife, Evelyn Mwende.
Before Senior Resident Magistrate James Mwaniki, Nzomo pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court heard that on July 30, 2018, at around 1700 hours, Nzomo unlawfully did grievous harm to Mwende at Kyaaka village.
Due to her tiny frame, many who watched the viral video suspected Mwende was a minor but in fact, she was a mother of three aged 35.
Senior Resident Magistrate Mwaniki ordered police to investigate whether the suspect has a history of domestic violence and therein attach a report.
Nzomo was arrested in Nguuni, Kibwezi West Constituency last week after the video of him viciously beating his wife went viral on social media.
This prompted the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji to direct the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to look for Nzomo and have him arraigned in court.
