Roysambu Man Caught on Video Being Assaulted by Woman Opens Up

The Roysambu man caught on video being brutally assaulted by a woman over Ksh200 debt, Kamau Wanjiru, has opened up on what transpired.

The man told Citizen TV that the bartender landed the kicks and blows on him over the arrears accrued by one his friends.

"Si mimi nilikua nimekopa ni friend yangu. Ni three months ago. Wakaanza kunishambulia. Sikua na uwezo ingine (It's not me who owed her, its a friend of mine. It happened three months ago. Then they settled on attacking me. I was helpless)," the man revealed.

According to another man who alleges to have recorded the incident on video, it was impossible to intervene as the woman attacker was being shielded by a team of her male friends.

"Kuna mwanaume mwingine alijaribu kumsaidia yeye pia nikaona wameanza kumpigia kelele (There was a man who tried to save the victim, but the youth shouted him down)," the witness narrated.

Cornered, the witness resorted to recording the attack on his phone and sharing the video out hoping that justice will be served for Kamau.

Kamau stated that he was only rescued from the ugly scene by a man who shoved him up and stopped the lady from attacking him further.

"Mwanaume mmoja ndiye alinishika akaniambia wee enda. Na akamshika, akamsukumanisha na huko. Mimi nikatoka nikaenda hivo (One man came, picked me up and told me to walk away. He then got hold on the attacker and pushed her back. That's how I managed to get away), Kamau recalled.

The viral video capturing the assault saw the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reach out to members of the public to offer information that can help in arresting and arraigning the attacker in court.

Daudi Nzomo, another attacker who was filmed assaulting his wife Winfred Mwende over alleged infidelity was on Wednesday handed a 12-year jail term by a Makueni Court.
