Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has announced his new side-hustle as a chauffeur during events for the city residents.
To underscore his commitment to the new venture, Sakaja changed the description on his Twitter bio to "Nairobi Senator. Premium Chauffeur".
Speaking on Monday during an interview with Radio Citizen, the Nairobi legislator indicated that he prides in offering the chauffeur services given that was his previous job before he joined politics.
"I enjoy doing what I do. Serving the people at any capacity is something I love doing," Sakaja indicated.
During the interview, Sakaja indicated that the country needs dedicated leadership that will empower the citizens and help them to realize their potential.
On Saturday, Sakaja stirred the internet after he chauffeured the wedding of a man who had been dumped by his former fiancée for being poor.
His political career took shape in 2007 when he joined the Kibaki campaign team as a driver.
At 23 years, Sakaja was involved in various political strategies that earned him respect among the president’s men.
"After dropping off the big men, I would always drive to college (Nairobi University) with the four-wheel vehicle, which gave me a lot of perceptional mileage among my fellow students," he noted in a previous interview.
While working for PNU, the former SONU official met Uhuru Kenyatta with whom they worked together when the latter was the Minister of Finance.
When President Uhuru was preparing for his 2013 presidential bid, Sakaja was one of the key strategists who came up with the idea of dumping KANU for TNA after plans to rebrand the former failed.
During Uhuru's first term as President, Sakaja was nominated as an MP and later elected chairman of the Joint Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity that comprised both senators and MPs.
During the 2017 General Election, he successfully contested and secured the Nairobi Senatorial seat on a Jubilee ticket.
