Woman Representative Gladys Wanga on Wednesday advised young girls to accept their humble backgrounds and focus on education rather than 'sponsors'.
The Homa Bay lawmaker was speaking after Sharon Otieno, a university student abducted with Nation journalist Barack Oduor, was found dead in Kodera forest.
"Our girls...this must be a lesson to you...it doesn't matter where you come from but be contented with what you have and focus...leave alone the sponsors and focus," Wanga stated.
Addressing journalists at Parliament buildings, Wanga asked the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti to fasten the probe into Sharon's death.
"It is a very sad morning, this act must be condemned. This is the true test for the DCI because it's alleged that the high and mighty are involved," the lawmaker remarked.
"It does not matter who you are, nobody deserves to take a life... we want the real person behind this matter arrested and charged with the murder of Sharon," she added.
Migori Women Rep Pamela Odhiambo also echoed Wanga's sentiments appealing to the young girls to avoid shortcuts that cost them everything.
The legislator stated: "I appeal and urge our young people that accept the conditions that you are in and avoid shortcuts. It is okay that you are a student... whatever humble background you have, just accept that you are a student."
The Migori legislator condemned the murder of Sharon and called for righteous leadership from all the male leaders adding that her death was unaccepted and women from Migori county would not bow out until the perpetrators were brought to book.
DCI Kinoti on Wednesday announced he had dispatched a special team of homicide detectives to Homa Bay to investigate the murder.
The detectives were also directed to look into the attempted murder of Nation reporter Barrack Oduor, who escaped death narrowly.
