DCI Uncovers New Details in Sharon Otieno's Murder

Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti revealed that detectives had uncovered more details in the brutal murder of Sharon Otieno.

He affirmed more arrests will be made in relations to the murder of the Rongo University student adding they were waiting for a few results before making more arrests.

DCI Kinoti stated: “Watch the next 24 hours. We are moving to arrest more suspects, as the probe goes on.”

On Monday, Lawrence Mula, the former Kanyadoto MCA, was arraigned in court in connection with the murder and the prosecution was allowed to detain him for 14 days as investigations continued.

Mula was the second suspect to be arrested after Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s personal assistant Michael Oyamo, who appeared in court on Monday but will be formally charged on Tuesday.

The prosecution told the court that Mula had crucial links with three other suspects who were yet to be apprehended.

State counsels Emily Waegulu and Amos Otieno told Senior Resident Magistrate Nathan Lutta the suspect was a person of interest in the case.

“He has links with some of the suspects that we are yet to arrest and we are asking the court to grant us more time to continue with the investigations,” Otieno stated.

The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has sent the head of murder division in his office Tom Imbali to guide investigators.

Although Kinoti did not state who they intended to arrest, the Standard claimed that the DCI was targeting Governor Obado for interrogation.
