Ex-MCA Lawrence Mula Arrested Over Sharon Otieno's Murder

Former Kanyadoto Member of the County Assembly Lawrence Mula was arrested on Sunday after being linked to the murder of university student Sharon Otieno.

According to reports, Mula spent the night in a police cell as officers deepened their investigations in the murder which Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been adversely mentioned.

Homa Bay County Police Commander Marius Tum stated that Mula will be arraigned in court on Monday alongside Migori Governor's personal assistant Michael Oyamo, a prime suspect in the murder.

This is after Nation journalist Barrack Oduor, who had been abducted alongside Sharon, claimed that the former MCA introduced him to the Migori governor.

Detectives had widened the search for Ms Otieno's killers beyond the original four who kidnapped her and journalist Oduor to several others believed to have worked closely with the killers.

Police also inspected several places Ms Otieno had visited before her brutal murder as well as scrutinising her phone records for clues.

Calls to anonymous numbers allegedly made by Oyamo before Ms Otieno's body was found, were also scrutinised.

Detectives deepened their investigations to identify the person who picked Ms Otieno and the journalist from the hotel in the CCTV footage although DNA tests are yet to be conducted to give further evidence.

The prosecution will either charge him or request for more time so that investigations can be completed.
