Former Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has responded after Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria accused him of conducting abortions.
Trouble began at the conclusion of a live TV interview when Khalwale alluded that a seemingly unsober Kuria was drunk.
"I wish we had put an alcohol-blow at the door before we came in," Khalwale quipped.
This saw the vocal MP launch a scathing attack claiming: "Let me tell you something, before you were conducting abortions, I was still in politics".
Kuria's remarks appeared to refer to who Khalwale's former career when he practised as a Medical Officer after graduating from the University of Nairobi in 1987.
Although the former Kakamega Senator did not respond immediately but instead choose to chuckle the matter off, he later opened up on it.
Questioned what Kuria meant about him performing abortions, Khalwale indicated: "It is an old trick meant to mischievously portray doctors as unethical and murderers."
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Khalwale indicated that it was unfortunate that Kuria opted for the personalized confrontation to deviate from matters of national interest.
"We can't blame the station after Kuria chose to show up for the interview in the condition he was in. But although the government may wish the tax increment debate away, it is here to stay," he quipped.
Noting of the dire economic consequences of the 16% VAT on petroleum products, Khalwale stated: "If this matter is not properly managed, parents in the near future will be forced to choose between buying food or medical prescription for their children."
