Zimbabwe opposition leader Nelson Chamisa is in trouble over his alleged relationship with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Ruling party Zanu-PF warned Chamisa Chamisa not to go ahead with his plans to hold a swearing-in ceremony at Zimbabwe Grounds in Highfield, Harare, on Saturday or else legal action would be taken against him.
Zanu-PF Youth League Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Lewis Matutu told the MDC Alliance leader that he must not take advice from Raila who was inaugurated the same way in January.
“Chamisa should know that Zimbabwe is not Kenya and that he is not Mr Odinga. We are aware that he is taking advice from Mr Odinga, that advice is not constructive for Zimbabwe,” Matutu remarked.
Matutu stated that the opposition leader was afraid of losing the leadership of his party to other senior officials who are in Parliament.
““We know it is not all MDC Alliance members who support his actions. He wants to disturb the peace in the country and lead innocent young people astray.”
Chamisa lost to President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the general elections on July 30 and subsequently challenged the results at the Constitutional Court.
The opposition sought the services of a Kenyan Professor, Dr. Edgar Otumba Ouko, to help point out alleged irregularities in a case filed to challenge President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s victory.
In August, Zimbabwe police started a manhunt for former Raila's aide Silas Jakakimba for alleged involvement in the chaos that rocked the country last week.
Raila took an oath in January as the nation’s people’s president after boycotting presidential re-run held on 26 October 2017.
