It is now clear politicians are already rolling up their sleeves for another conquest at a time Deputy President William Ruto is reading mischieve in the unity deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
Just a week after taking over a new job in Government, NASA C.E.O Norman Magaya has declared a renewed battle against the Deputy President.
Magaya is already working in government as part of the Kenya Film Classification Board management upon his appointment by President Kenyatta as a Director but has lashed out at DP Ruto.
"To one William Ruto, we are ready and set for a full-blown war with you. We will battle you in all spheres and defeat you. You have looted this country to the borne. Enough is Enough," Magaya wrote on Twitter during the weekend.
His sentiments came just a few hours after the DP accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of having the plot to edge him out of Government.
Ruto, who spoke in Kisauni, Mombasa on Sunday, claimed that Raila's close associates were now in government busy plotting to cause cracks in the ruling party.
"We know what the handshake is. And we are also very clear on what it is not. Marafiki zetu wasituletee utapeli ndani ya Jubilee. Tuko macho bwana. Tunawajua. (Our friends should not infect Jubilee with conmanship, we know them. We are watching keenly.) We don’t want you to export conmanship into the Jubilee Government," stated DP Ruto.
The DP's remarks had been preceded by an earlier declaration by ODM leaders that their party leader shall contend for the presidency in 2022.
Led by Siaya Senator James Orengo, factions in the opposition have maintained that they were keen to have Raila take over after President Kenyatta in 2022 as opposed to his deputy.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo during the weekend stated that the unity deal between Raila and Uhuru was the start of a journey to 2022. He challenged leaders to take side early enough and declare their support for or against Ruto.
Otiende, who enjoys a very close relationship with Mr Odinga, held that DP Ruto is part of Kenyatta's 10 years at State House and shall be locked out of the 2022 contest.
"Once you become a Deputy President, you can only be there for two terms. William Ruto will have enjoyed the collective presidency for two terms. Ten years are enough. Ruto must retire with Uhuru Kenyatta," stated the vocal ODM MP during a rally in Migori.
