Embu Deputy Speaker Impeached by MCAs

Members of the Embu County Assembly extended their frequent impeachment moves once again removing their deputy speaker from office.

The MCAs on Wednesday ousted deputy speaker Paul Muchangi, reinstating the ealier impeached Steve Simba as his  immediate replacement.

The leaders had earlier this year impeached Simba who is the Runyenjes ward representative after casting an overwhelming vote of no confidence in his leadership. They have once again installed him as the deputy speaker.

The impeachement debate initiated by Ruguru Ngandori MCA Sammy Muturi was protracted into late night houres on Wednesday as the house leadership wrangles deepen.

Muturi accused the ousted Deputy Speaker who doubles up as  the Gaturi North MCA of incompetence and argued that he lacked the knowlede and requisite skills to lead the house.

The impeachment comes barely a month after a similar move on Majority Chief Whip Margaret Kariuki.

Majority Leader Michael Njeru accused Muchangi of failing in his mandate and lacking qualifications of a Deputy Speaker.

There were claims that some of the members of the Embu Governor Martin Wambora's executive were fond of intefering with the House Business.

The new deputy speaker in his acceptance speach dismissed allegations that he had bad blood between him and governor Wambora assuring the MCAs that he has no personal vendeta against the governor's office.
