Dennis Itumbi Prays for Jacque Maribe Before Court Appearance

Digital Innovations and Diaspora Communications Secretary Dennis Itumbi on Monday stirred the internet after making an early morning prayer for embattled Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe.

Through his Twitter account, Itumbi stated, "It has always been said and I agree that 'The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice',"

"Though it tarries, be sure that Justice will be done my dear friend Jacque Maribe So shall it be done for Monica and Family. So, graciously hear me Lord," Itumbi prayed.

However, his prayer item raised debate as some netizens accused him of siding with Maribe instead of allowing justice to take its course.

"Please DM her... Handle your business privately otherwise we don't need this show," one Ken Muluka stated.

Another tweep, Francis Mbate, questioned why Itumbi appeared certain on the outcome of the case, "Really? I hope you don't mind taking us through the process on how you came to this conclusion".

"Don't just send the message on Twitter, go to court and support her, give her a hug, she'll feel good, haven't seen any of her friends in court," James stated.

There have been allegations of a relationship between Itumbi and Maribe although the two have in the past come out strongly to refute the claims.

Maribe is set to appear in court on Monday alongside Joseph Irungu Jowie after a mental test proved that she was fit to face trial.

The two are among the main suspects in the gruesome murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani.

The court ordered Maribe to be detained at Lang'ata Women's Prison for 11 days while Jowie was incarcerated at the Industrial Area remand prison as detectives finalized their investigations.

Here are more reactions:

A govt official going on record to state support for an accused that an arm of govt has decided to prosecute! Why not resign and support from the echelons of power. Otherwise it is taken to mean that you will do anything in your power to manipulate justice.

Let the judges do their work without intimidation. She is as guilty as that boyfriend of hers. Your judgement is clouded by the LOVE you still have for her. If you intimidate the judges and let a murderer go I pray that God will reward yu with the same pain Monica fam is feeling

The same courts you called 'Wakora?" Just a year ago? Anyway, let those wakora sort out this love triangle between Maribe, her admirer and her Fiancé.
