KCSE Candidate Arrested Over 8 Torched Homes in Baringo

A candidate in this year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations was arrested in Baringo in connection with the burning of 8 houses.

Abdul Awad Ali, a Form Four student in Kamelilo Day Secondary School was picked up at his home at around 2 am on Friday, his father revealed.

Police believe Abdul is linked to a gang which burnt down the houses on Thursday.

The houses all belong to relatives of an alleged rapist.

He is accused of defiling a form four student from a nearby school and was arrested.

Reports of the alleged rapist's release last week, however, enraged many area residents who demanded action.

Later on Thursday night, several houses were torched by a group of several men.

Other than the student, four people have also been arrested.

Koibatek OCPD Agnes Kamau advised residents to stay calm as investigations were undertaken.

She further promised that more people would be arrested in relation to the case.
