DP William Ruto Speaks on Wife Rachel Ruto During Mashujaa Day 2018

Deputy President William Ruto, during the Mashujaa Day 2018 celebrations on Saturday disclosed the special connection he had with Kakamega county.

Addressing the crowd at Bukhungu stadium, DP Ruto thanked the people of the county describing them as very good people.

He disclosed that his links with the county went beyond his political obligations as his wife, Rachel Ruto was born in Kakamega.

"The people of Kakamega are very good people; they are God-fearing people. My wife was born here, in Kakamega County and I want to thank the people of Kakamega for welcoming us to their county," Ruto stated.

The DP further acknowledged President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga for joining hands to end the politics of division, ethnicity and unite all Kenyans.

"We are all playing our role in building bridges of friendship, brotherhood, oneness and ensuring achievement of Big Four to cement President's legacy," he added.

He further congratulated Raila who was announced as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa. 

The Second lady was born Rachel Chebet on November 20, 1968 in Kakamega. She married Ruto in 1991 and have six children together.

In her position, she has become an advocate for women's rights and women's empowerment.

On January 17, 2014, Rachel was awarded the International Honorary Fellowship Award on Women Empowerment at the Binary University in Malaysia.
