Water Truck Kills Police Officer & 3 Others in Teso South

Three people were on Wednesday killed while two others were injured in a horrific road accident along Amukura-Machakus road in Teso South.

Busia County Police Commander Reuben Wambua Katithi confirmed that the water boozer developed mechanical problems thereby losing control and knocking dead the police officer and his motorcyclist.

The other person who died on the spot was the driver of the ill feted water lorry.

Katithi told Kenyans.co.ke that the water boozer veered off and rolled several times for approximately 50 meters from the road.

He added that the vehicle was damaged with key parts separated, “The front wheels were apart, the rear wheels were separated and the Cabin was also on its own.” he added.

The police and his motorcyclist were knocked dead while they were attempting to get off the road after they noticed the instability of lorry.

Mr Katithi also stated that one of the two survivors who escaped with minor injuries fled from the accident scene and is being hunted by the police.

The accident took place at around 10 am on Tuesday morning.

The police are now planning to move the separated sections of the lorry from the scene to a nearby station.

This comes a few months after an overloaded Kakamega bound bus killed more than 55 passengers after veering off the road at Fort Tenan in Kericho.

The owner of the bus was released on a Ksh 5 million bond.
