6 Men Gunned Down in Dandora, Nairobi

Police on Sunday morning gunned down six suspects in Dandora on suspicion of having attacked and raped a woman.

The suspected thugs reportedly attacked and raped a woman on a boda boda in Luckysummer area and sexually abused her in turns.

The attackers had escaped toward Dandora with the stolen motorbike, with some riding on their own bike but have been taken down by detectives.

According to Nairobi police boss Japheth Ole Tito, the stolen motorcycle had a tracking device which helped trace the thieves.

The owner had informed the police of the incident they tracked the said gang up to Kifarage area where they were mowed down by police bullets.

"The suspects have been identified by some of the victims that they had earlier on attacked and robbed. They are all young men," stated Tito.

He added that boda boda riders are giving security agencies a challenge because of the manner they are involved in crime.

"They hit and run fast. This is an area we need to check and address," the police boss added.

The killing of the six increased to seven, the number of suspects killed at the weekend alone in the city in the war on crime.

On Friday another suspect was felled in Mathare slums after he and others had shot and injured a police officer in a botched robbery.

The officer was shot in the stomach as he confronted a gang that had attacked and robbed a supermarket in the slum.

Two other suspects managed to escape on a motorcycle. A pistol with two bullets was recovered from the man.
