Safari Sevens to Cause Shutdown of Ngong Road on Saturday

Motorists plying a section of Ngong Road will be denied access beginning Saturday, November 10, to pave way for emergency services and rugby fans on foot.

This is meant to pave way for Safari Sevens slated to commence on Friday, November 9, at RFUEA ground along Ngong Road.

This, explained the tournament director Godwin Karuga, was to ease congestion.

The shutdown will also be caused by the continuing expansion of the road.

The area between Telkom and Impala Club will be left for fans on foot and emergency services. No parking will be allowed at these areas,” stated the Director.

There is road construction going on along Ngong Road and we want minimal interruption to flow of traffic,” he added.

Karuga, however, offered alternative routes for the entire time the roads will be closed.

Vehicles joining from Adams Arcade will be directed towards Ole Odume road on to Riara road or Joseph Kang’ethe road.

Whereas, those joining from Dagorreti shall be redirected to either to Kibera Station road or at Makindu Road on Riara road.

However, the tournament’s attendees who will use Pewin or Little cabs to get to the venue of the event will be allowed up to Telkom section but with strict security check.

Security at the event will be provided by the state with police deployed at different branches of the event. They will be positioned before and after the event.
