MCAs Disband Service Board Over Sexual Favours for Allowances

Members of the Baringo County Assembly on Wednesday disbanded the county’s public service board after accusing it of sexual harassment and incompetence.

More than 40 MCAs voted to disband the board for frustrating female members every time they needed allowances.

They complained about the Board’s Chief Finance Officer, Silas Kipruto, in particular.

"Every time you demand to be paid your allowances as a female MCA the assembly chief finance officer Silas Kipruto would request for sex in return," claimed nominated MCA Julia Kandie according to The Star.

The MCAs often demanded allowances ranging from per diems, fueling of vehicles, airtime and foreign travel.

They further claimed that those who gave in often received their allowances early and after a short time period.

They also praised the move stating that it was carried out at the right time to save the female members from the rogue board members.

In an earlier instance, Silale MCA Nelson Lotela was beaten by other members during one of the debates meant to discuss the issue.

He was, however, rushed to the hospital after that heated debate.

Lotela was hospitalised on Wednesday morning after three of his colleagues reportedly beat him up after they differed on the disbandment of the board.
