Zimbabwe’s First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa, who is on a visit to Kenya, expressed her admiration for her Kenyan counterpart, Margaret Kenyatta.
Auxillia stated that she was interested in being mentored by her host in order to learn and benefit from her wide experiences.
“I have come to see and learn. You are my mentor. I want to replicate whatever you are doing here back in my country,” she explained.
On Thursday, Margaret asked Auxillia to accompany her to Kajuki in Tharaka Nithi County to commission Kajuki Water Treatment Plant.
The visitor was keen to learn everything about water treatment and purification after which she would take the idea home.
“I will take the idea home where many people in my country have problems accessing clean water,” she commented.
She took the opportunity to talk gloriously about the innovative engagements of the Kenyan First Lady’s Beyond Zero initiative which have been recognised across the world.
Auxillia also spoke proudly about her host’s new and innovative Medical Safaris program where local people undergo free screening and treatment for various ailments including cancer and HIV.
Margaret told the guest that her motivation and strength emanates from Kenyans who have both embraced and appreciated her efforts.
She stated that “I get a lot of support from Kenyans. They appreciate and embrace our programs.”
