Police Shoot Dead 4 Suspected Thugs in Kayole

Four suspected thugs were on Sunday gunned down in a dramatic shoot-out with police.

The incident is reported to have occurred during a botched robbery in Kayole.

Confirming the DCI stated that they were working on information from members of the public when they confronted the gang.

"We approached a group of four suspected gangsters; who on being challenged, refused to surrender and instead started firing at them, prompting the officers to return fire-fatally injuring them," read a tweet by DCI.

At the scene, two pistols, four rounds of ammunition and several assorted calling cards were recovered.

The incident comes a month after six armed robbers were killed by police at Lucky Summer area in Dandora.

The thugs were hunted down after stealing a bodaboda and gang-raping a woman passenger.

Confirming the incident, Buruburu police boss Geoffrey Mayek stated that the gang was armed with pistols when they waylay the bodaboda rider.

The robbers stole the motorcycle, mobile phones, a handbag and cash.

“After the robbery, they blindfolded the rider and, in turns, gang-raped the woman severally before escaping,” Mayek told journalists.

Residents have decried the insecurity in the area with many terming them as hotspots for violent crimes.

“This is one area that has been giving us a headache. it's a well-known place for harbouring dangerous criminals, who normally terrorise innocent people within Dandora and Kasarani,” a resident was quoted by the Star.
