9 Suspected Thugs Shot Dead in Nairobi

Nine suspected thugs have been killed in Nairobi and its environs in the past two days.

On Monday, three suspected thugs were shot dead in two separate robbery attempts in the city.

The first suspect was killed at Mowlem area in Dandora after a brief chase by the police while the other two suspects were killed in a botched robbery in Kayole.

The Police stated that the gang had been attacking and robbing residents when an alarm was raised alerting patrolling police who rushed and gunned down the suspects.

The police recovered two pistols from the two separate incidents.

Meanwhile, six suspected thugs were also shot dead on Sunday in separate incidents in Nairobi and three pistols recovered.

Two were gunned down at Riruta, two others in Kayole while another two were killed in Soweto and Pangani respectively.

Over the last two weeks, 15 suspected thugs connected to violent crimes have been gunned down in Nairobi.

The killing of the 15 suspects has elicited a lot of reactions with human rights organizations like the International Justice Mission, Amnesty International, and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) terming them as extra-judicial.

According to the human rights' bodies, the police should arrest criminals and subject them to a thorough judicial process and not kill them.
