Migori Governor Okoth Obado Makes New Appointments

Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Tuesday fired top officials from his administration over political disloyalty.

Trade Chief Executive Elizabeth Ochaye was dismissed over her decision to openly campaign for Ochillo Ayacko in Migori senatorial by-elections held recently.

Obado was against the manner the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party picked Ayacko to be the candidate and directed his handlers to campaign for Eddy Oketch of Federal Party of Kenya.

Also shown the door was Education Chief Officer Marwa Muniko.

Taking over Ochaye's position is Sheila Ghati who was previously in the public service docket.

Announcing the changes was Migori County Director of Communication Nicholas Anyuor, who stated that the governor was committed to improving service delivery in his administration.

In the new line-up, Elijah Odhiambo will serve in double duty acting as the county executive for public service management while running the land and housing department.

Mary Midida was moved to the education department with Roseline Otieno taking her previous post as Chief officer in public service.

At the same time, Samuel Ochieng' who runs the roads and public works department will also serve as the acting chief officer for trade.

The new environment executive is Moses Chamwada with Joshua Ngwala serving as the chief officer of the department.

Christopher Odhiambo Rusana and Samson Maginga were retained as the county secretary and the education executive respectively.

Obado, who is serving his final term, had earlier conducted a small reshuffle of his cabinet moving Dominic Akugo, who served as director in charge of administration in the Governor's office to the education docket in the same capacity.
