Police in Kitui County are investigating the alleged assault of a senior county government official by a female mechanical officer working with the same administration.
The man, an Assistant Works Engineer, broke his arm after being accosted by the lady who according to eyewitnesses was armed with a jembe (hoe).
The lady is reportedly in charge of the county's mechanical stores.
“The complainant says the suspect raided on him with vicious attack, breaking his arm.
"The suspect claims the man wanted to ruin her marriage,” explained Kitui Central OCPD Muthuri Mwongera.
Mwongera further stated that the matter was being looked into, promising that charges would be brought against the suspect if she was found culpable.
Their co-workers claimed that the woman kept stating that the engineer had ruined her marriage the previous night.
Both the man and woman have recorded statements with the police.
The man was rushed to Kitui County Referral Hospital for treatment following the attack.
The lady is said to have approached the engineer as soon as he parked his car outside the offices, promising to teach him a lesson.
The engineer could be heard pleading for forgiveness as he was chased towards Kitui Law Courts.
