CS Fred Matiang'i Inspects Matatus Along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Thursday joined his officers in the ongoing matatu crackdown overseeing the exercise at the Naivasha and Gilgil traffic police checks.

CS Matiang'i physically checked public service vehicles ferrying passengers to and from Nairobi assuring citizens that the crackdown was meant to enhance safety on the roads.

The move comes at a time the momentum in the enforcement had significantly lost grip, with most motorists violating traffic rules at night.

Matiang'i told passengers at the checkpoints that the government needed their cooperation so as to realise full implementation of the Michuki laws.

He held that the move was to ensure no lives are lost on the roads as has been the case in most festive seasons throughout the year.

The CS also urged the passengers not to accept taking double fare charges from the matatu crew.
