Linus Kaikai Sued by Richard Chacha Over 2012 Accident

Four Journalists have named Citizen TV Director of Strategy and Innovation, Linus Kaikai, as the respondent in a case where they are seeking damages for an accident that left two of them paralyzed in 2012.

They include Governor Joho’s Communication Director Richard Chacha, Emmanuel Talam, Faith Kaimuri, and Ephantus Mwangi who worked for Nation Media when the accident happened.

The four are suing Kaikai, who was NTV General Manager at the time, for negligence since he was the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident.

The accident took place along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Road while the journalists were heading for a fundraiser in Kilgoris.

In an emotional testimony, Faith Kaimuri recounted how her life changed since the accident that rendered her completely incapable of walking occurred.

She told the court that she fell unconscious and woke in hospital some days later only to learn that she could no longer walk and had to rely on a wheelchair.

"I don’t know what happened on that day but all I know is that I will never walk for the rest of my life. This has taken a toll on me as I have to rely on other people," Kaimuri recounted.

Kaimuri told Judge Richard Mwongo that she could no longer take care of herself, forcing her to hire a nurse to assist in her personal maintenance.

Chacha told the court that the accident destroyed his life as he was rendered completely paralyzed by the accident.

He also wants the court to put into consideration huge financial losses he had to face seeking medical attention locally and abroad.

"After the accident, I suffered permanent injuries and the accident occurred due to negligence in the part of the defendant who owned the car," he says in his affidavit.

The next hearing is set for March 13 and March 14, 2019.
