Video: Governor Joho's Dance Moves at Mombasa Youth Convention and Global Migration Film Festival
A video has surfaced online of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho learning how to perform modern dances.
He was attending the Mombasa Youth Convention and Global Migration Film Festival at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Mvita Sub-County when some dancers invited him to join them on stage.
In the video, Joho's moves excited the audience who continuously applauded him.
Though he tried not to embarrass himself, he couldn't match the energy the youth had.
After being the subject of entertainment, the county boss encouraged the youth to help leaders in the region to fight the ills affecting the coast.
Joho announced that through the convention, Mombasa had partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to showcase the various talents and films as a mechanism to use art to build resilient communities.
He pushed for a broader coalition of partners to create stronger, more sustainable initiatives to engage the youth in, to keep them out of crime and drug abuse.
Representatives from the Police were present to listen to concerns about harassment of the youth by officers.
Young people with impaired hearing also raised issues about limited educational and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Mombasa has been on the spot over rampant insecurity caused by armed gangs and terrorist elements.
