Police Officer Kidnapped by Probox Driver in Bungoma , Gun Stolen

A traffic police officer was on Thursday bundled into a Probox in a strange turn of events at a traffic stop along a highway in Bungoma County.

The officer’s gun was also stolen in the incident which took place in Misikhu area.

During the kidnap that occured at 7 a.m, the officer was taken on a wild ride and was later abandoned at a place known as Ndivisi in the same county.

The officer, who is now nursing head injuries, was reportedly thrown out of the moving vehicle by his attackers.

He was kidnapped during a routine traffic stop along the Misikhu-Kamukunywa road.

He had arrested the driver who was in a company of two other people and ordered them to drive towards Webuye police station for booking.

After a short while, however, the suspects sped in a totally different direction disobeying the officer’s orders.

They took away his phone and pistol before throwing him out of the speeding car which they also dumped at Ndivisi centre and fled on foot.

According to reports, authorities have launched a manhunt for the thugs who have not been identified yet.

In November, another police officer was abducted by a driver along Mumias-Bungoma road.

The female officer, who sustained injuries, had been assigned to escort the vehicle to the station when the driver sped towards a different location.
