Lugari MP Ayub Savula Loses Daughter

Lugari legislator Ayub Savula is in mourning after losing his daughter on Wednesday night.

The family confirmed that the girl identified as Joan Chiri passed on at Nairobi Hospital where she was receiving treatment.

At the time details of what caused her death remain scanty.

Her death was first announced by COTU Secretly General Francis Atwoli who was speaking in Vihiga during the 39th Maragoli Cultural Festival.

The trade unionist informed the gathering that Savula was forced to leave the event on short notice for Nairobi because he had lost his daughter.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)'s Director of Communication Philip Etale passed a message of condolence to the MP through his Facebook page.

"So sorry Ayub Savula on the passing on of your daughter Joan. Be strong brother . It is well," he posted.

This comes two months after the MP was arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers over alleged corruption linked to Government Advertising Agency.

According to DCI, the legislator was arrested for conspiring to steal millions of shillings from the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology.

A statement from DCI read: “Lugari Member of Parliament, the Honorable Ayub Savula Angatia, has been arrested by DCI Detectives for conspiring to steal Ksh.122, 335, 500 from the Ministry of Information Communication and Technology.”
