Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday threw his first jab at his political opponents in the new year.
Speaking at his Sugoi home in Uasin Gishu, DP Ruto warned that endorsements were meaningless without a development track record.
"There are those hanging around, waiting for endorsements. How do you expect to be endorsed if you have no agenda or programme for the country?" he stated.
He advised politicians seeking the top seat to do so with parties that encompassed the national outlook.
The DP assured that he was ready to battle with anyone who will challenge him in the 2022 polls.
"I am ready to battle with anybody. Let my competitors put what they have done for this country on the table.
"Anything that seeks to impede the fruits of devolution will also be opposed. We want reforms that will make the counties thrive," Ruto added.
The DP's sentiments come after Jubilee vice-chairperson David Murathe publicly dismissed his 2022 presidential bid and called on Rift Valley to produce another candidate.
"If you (Ruto) have led with Uhuru for two terms, what else do you want. We don't know someone who will guard us but we know someone who will break us. We will take someone who will safeguard Mt Kenya.
"Let you not be deceived by the Tangatanga movement because both Ruto and Uhuru have served their full terms and should retire together," he stated in a previous rally.
