President Uhuru Hits Back at Moses Kuria's Remarks

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday hit back at Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over recent remarks regarding Jubilee's development record in Central Kenya.

Speaking during the ground-breaking ceremony for the Mama Ngina Waterfront Project in Mombasa, a visibly agitated Uhuru indicated that development should cut across the country and not only some regions.

"Wale wanatapatapa huko na siasa duni, sisi tumesema kwamba maendeleo haitakua inapatikana kwa sababu kiongozi ametoka pahali fulani (Those moving around politicking, we have decided that development will no longer be distributed according to where the President hails from)," he stated.

Uhuru noted that he would no longer entertain skewing of development according to political affiliation in the regions.

"Kwa hivyo hao washenzi waachane na mimi. Na hivyo ndivyo itakua (Those bothering should leave me alone. That is how it will be)," he quipped.

Emphasizing that the country had ushered in a new chapter, the president noted that every single citizen is entitled to development regardless of who the President is.

"Sisi tunataka maendeleo ya Wakenya million 45, kila kona ya Kenya ipate maendeleo (We want development for all the 45 million Kenyans and every part of the country should enjoy development).

"Mimi wenzangu si mtu anayetishika haraka haswa nikijua barabara yenye nimetenga na mahali nataka kuona taifa na wananchi wa Kenya wakiwa (I am not someone who can be swayed easily especially once I have made up my mind on where I want to see the country and its people)," Uhuru concluded.

The Gatundu South legislator had in the past decried what he termed as low government development record in regions considered to be Jubilee strongholds.

Uhuru noted that all Kenyans are hungry to see development in their regions and politicians who have failed to appreciate this fact should stop derailing development.

The Head of State equally commended the Opposition leaders led by ODM's Raila Odinga for supporting the initiative to unite the country.
