Casual Labourer Slits Child’s Throat for Playing With Building Stones

A family in Nakuru was, on Sunday evening, left in shock after a neighbour allegedly slit their four-year-old’s throat.

According to reports, the child, Arnold Kibet, was playing with other children in the suspect’s homestead when he was killed for touching his building materials.

Mercy Chepkoech, the boy’s mother, explained that he found his boy while still alive but with deep cuts on the legs, hands, mouth and chest.

"My son was tortured. I cried when I saw him struggle to breathe. He was bleeding profusely from the throat, head, and mouth, and there were several injuries on the chest and legs,” narrated the mother.

According to witnesses, the assailant, who is not quite friendly in the neighbourhood, killed the boy in his house after dragging him in.

The child was playing with other children in the suspect’s homestead. This seemed to have annoyed the casual labourer. He took the minor into his house where he committed the awful act,” revealed one witness.

The neighbour has never been friendly and when we went to his home, we were shocked to find a pool of blood,” stated another witness identified as Lilian Wanga.

Narrating the events before the alleged murder of her son, Chepkoech disclosed that she had left her business at 4 pm and welcomed by her son who made her tea.

Shortly after, he went out to play and at 5 pm, she received news of Kibet’s gruesome assault.

I had a strong attachment to my son. He used to make us laugh,” stated Kibet’s father Duncan Lang’at.

The assailant, however, on Monday morning, surrendered himself to the Rhonda Police Station.
