Olive Mugenda’s Husband Abel Jumped to Death – Police Report

A police report has emerged revealing that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) member Olive Mugenda’s husband Professor Abel Mugenda, 65, jumped six floors to his death.

According to The Standard, the Nyeri Police report documented that a man who had booked into a popular Nyeri hotel as Abel Mugenda jumped from a ledge on the sixth floor and died instantly.

According to reports, the professor attempted suicide by slitting his own throat before going to the sixth floor to commit suicide.

He was all alone most of the time and would appear in the dining hall for meals. He was mostly on phone but we would not notice something unusual,” stated a staffer of the hotel.

On Saturday, family reports indicated that the don had succumbed after a short illness.

In the statement released by Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogised the don as a researcher who had an impact on Kenya’s education.

He was one of Kenya's academic and research giants, who will be remembered for many years to come for his outstanding work,” stated Uhuru.

His body will be laid to rest on Friday next week at Thogoto Village in Kiambu County.

Mugenda had an illustrious career having worked with the United Nations and several other Non-Governmental Organisations.

He also lectured at the University of Nairobi, Iowa State University in America, United States International University – Africa among others.

The deceased left behind his wife Olive and four children; Albert Gitau, Christopher Nyoike, Angela Wambui and Linda Wambui.
