How Dusit D2 Manager Bernadette Died Helping Colleagues

The Revenue Director of the Dusit D2 hotel was killed as she tried to help her colleagues escape the attack at Riverside, Westlands.

Her workmates recounted to journalists that after the first blast, Bernadette Konjalo tried to find out what the commotion was.

When gunshots rented the air, she immediately started directing people to exit the hotel.

After a short while, the attackers got to the entrance of the hotel where she was guiding people.

On realising the danger before her, she retreated inside but was shot before she could get to safety.

Her body had suffered gunshot wounds on her left hand and face.

Bernadette's cousin, Camillus told the Nation, that they had waited at the scene of the crime until 2am for the director.

“We stayed there just waiting until 2am when some of her friends who had followed two ambulances to Chiromo Mortuary came back and asked us to accompany them as they had seen what looked like her body.

“We went to the mortuary and since some of her friends were still there, they showed us the body they thought was hers but we were in denial until we saw a birthmark,” he narrated.

Ms Konjalo had worked at the establishment since 2014 when she joined as an assistant front office manager.

Before that, she had also worked at the Tribe Hotel for six years.
