Senator Mutula Kilonzo Queries Dusit Attack Probe

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior on Saturday raised a strong concern over the Dusit D2 attack probe.

Taking to Twitter, Kilonzo wondered why no one was talking about the CCTV cameras that have been installed around the city in relation to the attack.

According to him, the cameras should be used by the investigators to track the movements of the criminals on the day of the attack.

No one is talking about the CCTV footage of the numerous cameras in the city of Nairobi. It would be nice to know which route(s) the terrorists used and whether there was any security personnel along the way,” Kilonzo posed.

While it’s still not clear whether the detectives have been using the footage from the cameras, recent arrests show that they are closing in on people who had a hand in the attack.

Earlier this week, they raided Ali Salim Gichunge’s house in Guango, Ruaka where he was living with his wife Violet Kemunto.

Police say he held multiple meetings with the key suspects in his house prior to the attack that left 21 people dead.

On Thursday, 13 people were arrested in Mombasa in connection with the crime.

On Friday, 5 terror suspects, including a Canadian national, were presented in a Nairobi court.

DPP Noordin Haji applied to have them detained for 30 days to enable detectives conclude the investigations.

On Saturday, Mahir Khalid Riziki’s wife and father were arrested by officers from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) flown to Nairobi.

In a separate incident, three foreigners were also arrested in Kitui town on Saturday by ATPU officers investigating the Dusit attack.
