Details of Raila, Uhuru Secret Tour After Dodging Presidential Escort

Details have emerged about President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's secret tour after dodging the presidential escort on Sunday evening.

Raila's vehicle pulled up at the Kisumu International Airport runway just as the Head of State was leaving and whisked him away in another Toyota V8 with civilian registration plates.

The president's move broke security protocol, leaving the jet engine running and causing a delay of about four hours.

According to Nation, Odinga took the president on a trip to Kisumu Port where he had launched his first project as AU envoy

On Friday, he officiated the introduction of a 70-meter dredging vessel at Kisumu port in an effort to eradicate Lake Victoria water hyacinth.

“I saw three Toyota Prados enter the port some minutes to 7pm. I thought they were local businessmen coming to check the port until I saw them alight. I moved closer to confirm if it was the President and Raila I was seeing,” narrated David Ojwang’, a boda boda rider who was at the port to pick a client.

After that, Raila and Uhuru proceeded to a private yacht club where they had dinner together.

The former premier later escorted President Kenyatta back to the airport at around half past 8pm.

Other individuals who joined the two leaders in their rendezvous are Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, his Deputy Mathews Owili and Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

The friendship between the two former rivals seems to have been cemented if their recent activities are anything to go by.

On January 7, Uhuru joined in the celebration of Raila's 74th birthday in Mombasa County.
