Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has come up with some innovative strategies of discouraging rampant laziness and corruption in his administration.
He went ahead to indicate that he will not spare anyone that is guilty regardless of the position they hold in his administration.
The first strategy of the governor involves installation of suggestion boxes to be used by the members of the society to offer feedback on the performance of individual county employees.
“I am aware of sub-county administrators who are never in office or they report on duty any time wish. The assembly has approved my first budget marking the start of the implementation of my development plan,” Governor Kimemia indicated on Thursday.
He added, “Don’t think you will fool me by sorting and destroying reports dropped in those boxes. I know all the tricks, it was used on me in the national government but I eventually got to know the truth.”
He also indicated that he was aware that some officials are noticeably misusing the powers of the offices they hold at the expense of the of the residents.
So far, the plan has been approved by the assembly as an element in the county’s budget. The governor assured the people that his plan would work well in terms of enhancing and assuring quality service delivery.
The other strategy involves the use of special ward committees made up of village elders across the county.
The initiative will involve collaboration with the department of administration and will aim to monitor specific development projects taking place in the county.
The governor was categorical in stating, “The era of corruption has come to an end from today. The culture that one must bribe to get government services must come to an end. I have devised my own ways to arrest corrupt and lazy officers.”
