Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia Sacks Senior Official Over Kshs 36,000

Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia has ordered for the immediate sacking of a Ward Administrator for failing to account for Kshs 36, 000 from the county's bursary kitty.

According to Nation, the decision was communicated in an internal memo sent to the county's Public Service Board.

"I order immediate sacking of the ward administrator for failing to conduct bursary allocation in a transparent manner,” read the letter.

The Kiburu - Njabini Administrator is alleged to have altered the list of bursary awards and amount of money awarded, previously approved by the bursary committee.

I am aware that some dead persons were allocated bursaries, I want every coin meant for the needy children accounted for, we must ensure transparency in all our transactions, these are public funds and must be utilised to benefit the public,” noted Kimemia.

Nyandarua County Secretary Hiram Mwangi confirmed seeing a copy of the letter but classified the matter as internal.

It’s true, I have seen a copy of the directive, the governor is committed to fighting corruption, but I am not in a position to further discuss the matter, it’s an internal issue,” stated Mwangi.

The governor had stated on January 24, 2018, that the era of corruption was over, and that he has devised strategies to arrest lazy officers.

“I am aware of sub-county administrators who are never in office or they report on duty any time wish. The assembly has approved my first budget marking the start of the implementation of my development plan,” Governor Kimemia announced.

The first strategy of the governor involves installation of suggestion boxes to be used by the members of the society to offer feedback on the performance of individual county employees.
