Two of former Vice President the late Kijana Wamalwa's children have claimed that their lives are in danger following their recent interview on Citizen TV.
Derek Mboya and his sister Michelle Nafuna aka Chichi were involved in an interview last Friday, during which they accused their step-siblings of seeking to coerce them out of their house.
The two are currently living at their late father’s house in Karen that was bequeathed to them following the passing on of Yvonne Wamalwa, their mother.
The former VP didn't leave a will but his widow was granted a letter of administration back in 2003.
However, the grant was changed to include Alice Muthoni, Wamalwa’s elder daughter as a co-administrator, on January 24, 2005.
Following Chichi and Derek's’ damning interview, Muthoni and her two brothers, William Wamalwa (Junior) and William Wamalwa (Senior) have come out to dismiss the allegations laid against them.
They went on to claim that their two younger siblings are after the lions’ share of their late father’s estate.
“It was meant to cast our family in a bad light. It is regrettable and sad that this matter has turned out this way,” Muthoni asserted.
“It is a question of fairness whether one of the beneficiaries can get three-quarters of the estate to the disadvantage of the four who are left to share one-quarter of the property,” she added.
On her end, Chichi claims to have received blatant threats from one of her aunts following their revealing interview.
“She told me they expected me to be a Wamalwa but it turns out I'm not. She has threatened me saying I should watch my space,” she alleged.
Kijana's youngest daughter has since disclosed that she was taking the threat seriously and that she had spoken to her lawyer regarding filing for a protective application against all the Wamalwas.
Their uncle and Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS) Eugene Wamalwa has opted to take a hushed approach following the entire saga, citing that Muthoni was the only one mandated to speak on behalf of the estate.
Derek and Chichi had mentioned the CS as part of the siblings seeking to disinherit them.
At the heart of the family feud is their late father's Karen home, which was partially paid for by the government following his death.
The case is set to be heard on February 4, 2019.
