Passengers Rescued After Being Carjacked in Mai Mahiu

Passengers headed for Kisii spent five hours in a bush after they were carjacked along the Mai Mahiu route at 3am on Wednesday.

The 11-seater vehicle registered to Transline Luxury was carjacked after a woman requested to be dropped at the Zambezi Resort along the Nairobi- Narok Route.

The carjackers charged at the vehicle immediately the driver alighted to help the lady get her luggage out of the boot.

The attackers then took charge of the vehicle, driving it into the bushes along the Mai Mahiu highway.

The passengers were ordered to alight from the vehicle after which they were frisked their valuables.

It was at this point that the passengers discovered that the lady who had requested to alight was part of the gang.

After confiscating their phones, the victims were then asked to transfer all their mobile savings to one of the suspect's phone number.

They were further directed to a request for loans using their mobile lines on mobile platforms.

The carjackers then drove off with the lady, leaving the passengers in the bush for five hours before they were rescued and taken to Mai Mahiu Police Station to record statements.

Luckily, no one was hurt during the incident.
