CS Matiang'i Addresses NTSA Over Duplicate Number Plates

Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Tuesday addressed the National Transport And Safety Authority (NTSA) over cloning of vehicle number plates.

Speaking during the unveiling of the new NTSA Board, Matiang'i vowed that the issue of double registration will be dealt with once and for all.

"I promise my fellow Kenyans that it will never happen again. We will shake it (the cloning cartel) to its bone marrow," Matiang'i quipped.

The CS further indicated that he will ensure that NTSA will live up to its mandate and deliver to Kenyans.

Matiang'i noted that the new NTSA Board is one of the Government's measures to address mismanagement issues at the agency.

He further promised to winnow out and bring to justice rogue NTSA officials colluding with criminals.

"The journey begins immediately and I will start by meeting the new board on Thursday," Matiang'i stated adding that he is working jointly with all his colleagues under the one government approach to resolve the issue.

Noting that the government agencies have identified the gaps being exploited in cloning of number plates, Matiang'i indicated that he was working closely with the DCI under George Kinoti, the National Police Service (NPS) under IG Joseph Boinnet, the Attorney General and the Ministry of Finance.

"We will do all that needs to be done to ensure we correct the gaps in this institution," the CS indicated iterating that his entire team was aligned to deal with the matter conclusively.

"We have a huge team of organized, dedicated and focused people to reorganize NTSA. You will hear a bit more from us but I would rather have the work we do speak for us. The work begins now!" the CS concluded.
