Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has laid bare President Uhuru Kenyatta's plan to kick his deputy William Ruto out of Jubilee Party.
In his recently published book, Treason: The Case Against Tyrants and Renegades, the boisterous learned friend claimed that Uhuru had the plan all along.
Quoting the president's advisors, the troubled lawyer disclosed the president had "mortal fear of Ruto" with two elaborate schemes to push him out in the middle of his second term.
In the first scheme, the lawyer claimed that Uhuru had planned to launch a fight against corruption in which the DP would be edged out as a casualty.
"The idea was to weaponise the fight against corruption and use it to undermine, sabotage and attempt to destroy their perceived, or real, political enemies, including Ruto before removing him as Uhuru's DP," wrote Miguna.
He further divulged that the president's political advisers were determined to ensure Ruto does not ascend to president. He singled out businessman Jimmy Wanjigi who shared with him stories of uhuru's fear of the DP.
In another scheme, Miguna claimed that the President's team had hatched a plan to expand the Executive with a prime minister post that would be taken up by Uhuru after his second terms end.
Miguna explained that Uhuru sought to review the winner-takes-it-all structure of government against an earlier pact he had made to support Ruto for 2022 elections.
The fight to edge Ruto has already taken shape with former Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe coming out and publicly vowing to block Ruto from becoming President.
He accused the DP of rigging party nominations, especially in Mount Kenya and Rift Valley regions.
