Citizen TV’s Yvonne Okwara Dresses Down Joho & Mike Sonko Over Petty Politics

Citizen TV journalist Yvonne Okwara, on Thursday night, gave her take on the ongoing fights and engagements between some governors which she termed as petty politics.

Appearing as part of the News Gang panel, Yvonne dressed down Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Mike Sonko (Nairobi), Ferdinand Waititu (Kiambu) and Stephen Sang (Nandi) for their recent statements.

The tough-talking anchor addressed the spat between Joho and Sang terming it “childish.”

“This childish spat between Governor Sang and Joho is not taking this country anywhere,” stated the seemingly agitated anchor advising them to seek proper channels of handling the issue.

“If one has evidence against the other, he knows where the DCI is. The other can as well go to court to sue for defamation or seek clarification from Interpol,” she continued.

Okwara further condemned Governor Sonko and his Kiambu counterpart’s absurd tales from their days of smoking bhang while still serving as MPs.

“Can the Governors of Nairobi and Kiambu also stop regaling tales of their heady days smoking bhang? One might be tempted to believe they are raising accountability issues, I doubt that that is indeed the case,” she continued.

Former Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe was not spared either as the anchor challenged the politician to present any evidence he purported to possess in his determined fight to bar DP William Ruto from ascending to the presidency.

“Can the former vice-chair of the ruling party also forward any evidence he has to the respective authorities? Can I be spared of some so-called legal interpretations about who can and cannot vie for the presidency,” she remarked.

She further termed the politics that had been presented by those leaders as “political duplicity” and that it needed to stop.
