Caroline Mwatha's Body Found at City Mortuary

The body of Caroline Mwatha, a human activist who went missing on February 6, 2018, was on Tuesday found at the City Mortuary in Nairobi.

A detective involved in the investigation of the murder stated that a woman who owns a clinic and a doctor at the clinic had been arrested in connection with the murder.

According to Capital FM, investigations show Mwatha died at the clinic where she sought unspecified medical services before she died and was taken to the mortuary.

Police who spoke to Daily Nation claimed that Mwatha was five months pregnant and died at the clinic where she had gone for an abortion.

Police Spokesman, Charles Owino, stated that DCI is finalizing on investigations before the two are charged for the murder.

Police also stated Mwatha's body was taken to the mortuary on February 7, 2018, a day after she was reported missing.

However, her family revealed they had checked the morgue but did not find her.

Sources indicate the body was taken to the morgue and booked under a different name.

Mwatha, who is the founder member of of the Dandora CommunityJustice Centre, disappeared from her home on Wednesday under mysterious circumstances.

Mwatha's husband, a trader based in Dubai narrated his last moments talking to his wife after he flew back in the Country on Sunday in search of his missing wife.

“We were chatting almost the whole night on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, she texted me good morning but due to the time difference, I responded late,” he had stated.
