President Uhuru Pays Elderly Man 250K After Damaging His House

A 77-year-old man from Kaloleni, Kilifi County, has received Ksh250,000 from President Uhuru Kenyatta after the presidential choppers destroyed his house.

James Keah’s roof was blown away by strong winds that were caused when the Uhuru's choppers landed next to his homestead on October 10, 2017.

The money was handed over to Keah in a small ceremony that was presided over by Coast Regional Coordinator John Elungata and Kilifi County Commissioner Magu Mutundika.

He expressed gratitude to the president for the kind gesture and revealed that he would use the money to complete his house.

“I’m thankful to the head of state, I did not think I would ever get such an amount of money to repair my house. This is an indication that our president cares for the less fortunate like me,” stated Keah.

President Kenyatta also donated Ksh2 million to Kizurini Secondary School whose dining hall roof was blown off during the visit.

The money was used to improve the catering and cooking environment and the school itself.

The institution’s Deputy Principal Naomi Kinuhi thanked the president for his gift, adding that it had helped them construct a modern kitchen.

The school looks very organized now, it has also eased catering and welfare services to our students because today food is cooked on time because we have improved jikos, serving has also become very fast,” she explained.

Netizens have heaped praise on the president for being thoughtful after it emerged that he had compensated an elderly man whose house had been damaged when he landed.
