Earlier that day, Presidents Kenyatta and Macron had unveiled the Peugeot 3008 at State House.

"I am impressed with the progress PSA Groupe has made in delivering locally assembled vehicles in our country. As we continue the journey of building a better Kenya with shared prosperity for all, we have prioritized manufacturing as one of the critical sectors for wealth and employment creation under the Big 4 Agenda," announced Uhuru.

The president expected the visit by Macron to impact on the number of French businessmen and investors who would want to invest in Kenya as well as increase the number of tourists between the two countries.

They two heads of state had also announced a partnership to develop a commuter rail from Nairobi Central Station to JKIA.

When completed the train will be expected to travel the 20km distance in 20 minutes.

Uhuru thanked the French Government for partnering with Kenya in enhancing the transport system in Nairobi.

The President further explained that the partnership supports his administration's focus on decongesting the Nairobi Metropolis.

Another deal the two countries will be collaborating on is the establishment of a modern highway from Nairobi into the Mau regions.

Kenya was the third destination for Macron in his visit to the region. He had initially visited Ethiopia and Djibouti for offers of other “respectful” deals for development.

The French statesman will be attending the One Planet Summit on climate change in Nairobi on Thursday.
